THE ONLY Buttermilk Biscuit Recipe You’ll Ever Need

The best way to start off the day. Flaky, amazing, buttery goodness of freshly baked biscuits.

Served with jam and butter? The best combo.

Some gravy and sausage? EVEN BETTER.

Look at the flakiness of those babies!

You only get that biscuit height when the cold butter in the mixture melts in the oven, while at the same time being pushed upwards by the baking powder and baking soda.

Slightly crunchy on the outside, but buttery soft on the inside.

That alone makes labouring in the kitchen in the morning SO WORTH IT.

I’ve seen other recipes that don’t have the same kind of flaky look.

Don’t even bother with those.

The Game Changer: Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich

I ended up on the couch.

Passed out. In a deep food coma.

I just made the most delicious sandwich… EVER.

Ten seconds. I literally had to pause for ten seconds, hand on head. Just after taking one bite.

Lemon rosemary-brined buttermilk fried chicken, Sriracha slaw, and chorizo gravy—sandwiched between two flaky homemade buttermilk biscuits.

Words cannot even describe.

The juiciness of the fried chicken, the rich and mildly hot flavors of Sriracha and chorizo, and the pillowy soft, buttery biscuits. I always fancied myself a big southern food lover, but I outdid myself.

It’s a game changer.

Let me leave you with the recipe of the most crucial ingredient: Thomas Keller’s buttermilk fried chicken. Hands down the best fried chicken you’ll ever eat.

You can’t get this in any Toronto restaurant. It blows even The Stockyards out of the water.

This is comfort food at it’s finest.

Biscuit + Candied Bacon & New Blog!

Yup… I did it! Welcome to the first post of my food blog!

To kick things off, I’m sharing a recipe of the BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH EVER. Seriously, how can you go wrong when you combine: an ultra-flaky homemade buttermilk biscuit, candied rosemary bacon, melted Balderson medium cheddar cheese, fried egg and whole grain mustard aioli?

I couldn’t even take a lot of photos because I was too excited to eat it. And when I took a bite of it, I swear I heard doves crying when I paused for a good 10 seconds.

So here’s the recipe for the biscuits and the bacon, you make both and assemble it together with whatever topping/spread you want!

Note: The payoff of making your own biscuit at home is so worth it… watching the butter melt as the steam pushes the biscuit upward while it’s baking in the oven is an unreal sight.
