Wilbur Mexicana
552 King St W, Toronto
Ahh, tacos. They make me nostalgic of hot weather and summer (two things we don’t get in Toronto often). Let’s be real, Wilbur Mexicana’s tacos are different from the legit food truck or authentic hole in the wall tacos you can get in SF and LA. But DAMN they are good!!
I’d classify them under tacos that have a modern and hipster twist. My boyfriend and I loved the carne asada tacos and the tortilla chips with queso and guac. The carne asada tacos were delish, nice tasty slices of skirt steak, topped with pico de gallo and crispy onions. We also tried the baja fish tacos which were passable – the seasoning seemed a bit lacking. I wasn’t too impressed by the corn which was pretty small in size and wasn’t as juicy or sweet as La Carnita’s.
That said, I really liked the simple concept of ordering at the front then seating yourself at a communal table. Service was fast as well, and I enjoyed the table that had a bunch of different salsas and tons of hot sauces! Will definitely be back.
